Kids are messy. Without a doubt, their glasses are going to get full of smudges and fingerprints. Most likely, your kid’s glasses will need to be cleaned often. What happens when you are not there to help clean your child’s glasses? Here are some simple steps to teach kids how to properly clean their glasses.
- Wash your hands thoroughly before cleaning your glasses.
- Rinse the lenses under a gentle stream of water.
- Add a small drop of dish soap to each lens and gently rub them.
- Carefully wipe the lenses with a dry cloth. (Do not use your shirt!)
- Check your lenses and re-wash your glasses if they are still dirty.
To prevent your child from misplacing their glasses, have them put their glasses in a case at night. By having your child put their glasses away, they lower the risk of damaging or losing them before they go to sleep. When having a set routine, your child will remember where they left their glasses the night before and you won’t have to search the house to find your kid’s glasses the next morning. It is important to teach your child that they should never sleep with their glasses on. This is because they risk breaking their glasses as they toss and turn in their sleep.
Kids may not respect their glasses to the extent that an adult would. In order to make sure your child takes care of his or her glasses it is important to properly educate them on how to independently take care of their glasses. By giving them routines and teaching them the do’s and don’ts, you will not have to be as nervous that something will happen to your kid’s glasses.
